An ancient marquisate

Calafell is a town in Tarragona that used to have a Marquisate on its lands. The Marquis of Alfarras used to on the Sant Miquel estate, but when this nobleman died in 1920 these lands passed to his descendants and for many years this area remained unpopulated and dedicated to farming. In fact, there were only a few buildings, including a beautiful Romanesque church. however, in 1946, the land was approved for development and the peasants who worked the land were forced to abandon it. A year later, the bishop of Barcelona blessed the first works on a series of houses that were intended to become a true garden city facing the sea.

Initially, it was conceived as a village made up of two-storey houses with blue doors and windows, but it was soon replaced by apartment buildings.
